Tis the Season

Christmas is one of my most favourite times of the year. Growing up, we were spoiled with lots of fun, treats, gifts and most importantly, quality family time. We always spent the holidays with cousins from Johannesburg and Christmas just wouldn't have been Christmas without them in the picture.

I've had to change my views and ways during the last few years, as a) it's not always financially viable to make it back to South Africa each December, b) the family is more spread out over the world and c) it's good to develop one's own set of family traditions. We will be spending December in Holland this year and Bryn and I have discussed ways we can make it as fun and exciting as possible.

Next week we'll tuck in to mince pies, Christmas cake and make and decorate a gingerbread house. We'll 'visit' a few of our dream destinations and celebrate that country for a day in activity, food and dress. We'll get to enjoy a tradtional Christmas dinner Harries-in-Holland style and celebrate another year of life for Savannah bug. It's the big 8 this year, which means she can get her ears piered. Along with this birthday comes her long anticitpated baptism, which we'll do in February.

Lots to do, and plenty to give thanks for and celebrate.
