We're back

Unpacking, doing the laundry, sorting through thousands of photos but most importantly remembering many, many happy memories. We had such a great time with our families and miss them all very much.

Weekend arrival in Johannesburg after a very pleasant day flight. The girls were so good and were complimented by many passengers at the end of our journey. Aunty Carol and Uncle Ron were so kind to put us up and spend a weekend with us. We enjoyed fantastic summer weather, Jo'burg afternoon storms, chatting, eating out, shopping, meeting old friends, and visiting the lion park. Playing photographer in this park was rather scary, as my daring husband insisted we have the window right down to get the best possible shot of the carnivores.

Welcomed by the family at Durban airport was awesome. Home sweet home! We enjoyed a summer meal together that evening and basked in family love and attention. The cousins all seemed to pick up where they left off last.

Our first week home was filled with family meals, facials and spa treatments from Heila, family photos, fishing, playing with cousins til the sun went down, and a 2 day getaway to Indigo Fields health spa resort for the mama and papa. The olive and rosemary bread is to die for, and so are all the treatments, by the way, but that olive bread...yummers. All of that certainly was the right recipe to unwind and set the tone for a fantastic 3 week break from reality.

And that brings us the end of week 1. Weeks 2 and 3 to follow...

Update

I downloaded 1263 photos onto my laptop this morning. Looking forward to sorting through them and eventually taking you on a guided tour of our fabulous holiday in South Africa. We're loving it here. Surprisingly, we've done very little basking in the sunshine, due to a rather disappointing lack of it. We are however, basking in all the love and fun families share. Two weeks already, just over a week left. Still so much to do. Bryn's off to Mozambique tomorrow or Monday. I'm learning to do lash extensions. The girls are getting spoiled.
