A Time and a Season

I have really enjoyed the 3 1/2 year age gap between Savannah and Madison. It has allowed me time to zone in on their individuality and most importantly, to appreciate each and every stage (some more than others:) We're approaching a new stage now which brings with it feelings of uneasiness, as this has been my life for the past 7 years. No, it's not a baby, if that's what you're thinking! It's that my baby is going to be starting big school! She turns 4 in July and will no longer be at home with me all day, everyday. I am often met with the question, "Aren't you looking forward to the freedom you'll have once Madison is at school?" To be honest, no. I love having my sweet girl with me. She is my shadow wherever we go--she's accompanied me to tea parties, shopping trips, lunch with friends, gym, Miglio parties, errands, helping out in Savannah's class. You name it, we do it together. The loo hasn't even been a place of peace and quiet! I remember experiencing the same feelings when my eldest baby took that leap. These precious little people are suddenly exposed to the world and to people a mother wouldn't necessarily actively seek out as good and wholesome company. They lose their innocence. But, they grow and are exposed to different cultures, language, personalities, ideas and become stronger for it. They learn to problem solve, to stand up for themselves and for what is right, and to hold their own in an ever changing world. This is when they take what has been taught and given to them at home and get to live it. Spread your tiny wings, my babies, and fly. Thank you Brynny, for allowing me to be home with our beautiful little girls.
